Family Driven Faith Book Review by Sunny Daniels
Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham is an urgent call to
parents to return to biblical discipleship in the home. The
statistics are staggering—“It is estimated that as many as 70-
88% of teens who profess Christianity walk away from the faith
by the end of their freshmen year of college.”
In his book Baucham gives some practical, yet convicting tips
for teaching children Biblical principles at home. Through
scripture & his own experiences, Baucham models how to follow
the plans laid out in scripture such as in Deuteronomy 6, rather
than following plans that the world may offer.
This book has reinforced my belief that it is both an honor and
a privilege to have the opportunity to raise my children in the
“nurture and admonition of the Lord”. It has also become evident
to me that many of us have lost our zeal for what an exciting
adventure raising a child can be. Over the past few decades it
seems to have been ingrained in us to “go with the flow” or that
status quo is worthy of striving for. Yet, I believe we are not to
just survive, but excel in our role as Godly parents. For this
reason, I believe every Christian parent should read this
book. Let us pray for God to open our hearts and minds to
something maybe a little different than what we may be
accustomed to reading.
